Prelude to Morning
By Sarah Wagner
Lifting
the languid fog of dreams,
You steal my breath in the thunder of your strike.
Slipping through my barriers to wake me
With the whispers of callused fingers
Traveling the measureless expanse of skin
Devouring me in your renegade touch.
This contagious fire burdens my soul
Leaving me caught in the wake of explosions.
A crazy midnight storm, tossing me
Liquid, supine over peaks I never knew existed.
The rush overtakes me, drowning me
I've no choice but to surround you
To wallow in the moment, glowing
Battered against the core of the flame.
