From Beverly Taylor:

I just started writing for submission and publication this past year and I've been very happy with the success I've achieved so far. Most of my work has been published in non-paying markets, but my two most recent publications are in paying markets. In June 2005, I achieved my first publication, a short story, "Nasty Details," published in the ezine Long Story Short. This story has also been selected for reprint publication in a future issue of Penwomanship. During the same month, a photograph I took of my cat and a flash fiction piece I wrote, "Judgment Day," were both published in a local college journal, Neuse River Anthology. Long Story Short also published Judgment Day as a reprint in the September 2005 issue. Since then, I have published my personal experience article, "The Double Spacing Dilemma," in the August 2005 issue of Long Story Short and I have published my personal experience article,"Freedom from Slavery: How I Stopped Smoking for Good," in the Fall 2005 issue of Living. My most recent publication is my personal experience article, "Possessions," which appears in the Fall 2005 issue of Canada's e-clips.

From Karen O'Leary:

I am a nurse and freelance writer from North Dakota. I have published articles, short stories, and poetry in variety of venues. "Parables Magazine" chose me as spotlighted contemporary fiction writer for Sept/Oct 2005. I won first place in "Art With Words" poetry contest in July 2005. In September 2005, I was named to the Best Poets list for "Poetry Soup" and won the Sijo poetry contest in "RB's Poets' Viewpoint."

From Shaila Abdullah:

Pakistani-American author Shaila Abdullah's book, "Beyond the Cayenne Wall," a collection of stories, won the Jury Prize for Outstanding Fiction in the 2005 Norumbega Fiction Awards.
